Who We Are
MCO is the mission enterprise of ECBC to the Medical University of South Carolina. MCO is a group of people trusting God to build laborers on the medical campus here and abroad to the glory of God. Our method of building laborers is to follow Christ’s example of leading and training disciples. We have been blessed to see God, through this process of discipleship, use MCO to build laborers on multiple medical campuses in the Southeast and Northeast Un
ited States.
How MCO Began
Medical Campus Outreach (MCO) began as an interdenominational ministry on medical campuses in the United States. MCO was founded in 1987 at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. It was born out of a deep desire that God placed in several individuals to see medical students come to know Christ and for them to practice Christ-like medicine with compassion, competence, and character. Since then, MCO has spread to 9 medical campuses and now involves students from medical, dental, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, physician assistant, pharmacy, and other graduate programs. The orginal MCO mission statement was based upon Christ’s Great Commission (Matt 28:19-20), “to build laborers on medical campuses to reach a lost world for Christ.” The main goal of MCO was to encourage and equip medical students to be able to fulfill our Lord’s commission wherever they are called.
