To meet the library's mission statement, the selection of all materials will be made by the library committee, following but not limited to these guidelines:

  1. Is the subject matter handled fairly and objectively?
  2. Is the material covered factual, accurate, reliable, authoritative and up-to-date?
  3. Will the material appeal to the age or interest group for whom it is intended?
  4. Is the style of the material of high literary or technical quality?
  5. Is the physical condition of the material acceptable (i.e. free of mold, yellowed pages or water damage)?
  6. Do the author and publisher have good reputations for material in this field?
  7. Has the material been included in recent distribution lists or has it been reviewed in contemporary periodicals?
  8. All materials donated to the library become permanent additions to the collection.
  9. Donated materials that are not approved shall be disposed of by the ministry team in any manner deemed appropriate.
  10. Monetary gifts are welcome. The donor and library staff may confer on the items to be purchased in accordance with the library's selection policy.
  11. A tax deductible receipt is available upon request.
